Janjati Suraksha Manch was established by the Adiwasi (Janjati) society in Raipur in May 2006. The organization is a constituent of the Sangh Parivar the family of organisations affiliated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram (ABVKA).
To push this demand of de-listing, Janjati Suraksha Manch was formed in 2006 in Raipur during the meeting of tribal chiefs. It was decided that through the process of de-listing, the converted tribal people should be excluded from the list of Scheduled Tribes.
Janjat Suraksha Manch raised public awareness regarding its demands and in the year 2009, signatures of 28 lakh tribal people were collected in support of this campaign. The memorandum containing the signatures was handed over to the then President Smt. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil.
During the period from December 2021 to June 2022, Jan Samarthan Sabha (public support meetings) were organized by conducting a Maha Sampark Abhiyan in 50 thousand Janjati villages in 221 tribal-dominated districts of the country. During the period from February 2023 to December 2023, large public support meetings were also organized at 19 places in tribal-dominated Fifth and Sixth Schedule States. Around 12 lakhs Janjati brothers and sisters and youth participated in these meetings. These included Bhil, Gond, Santhal, Oraon, Munda, tribes from North Eastern, etc.
The country is currently going through Amrit Kaal. In this favorable period, it is necessary to protect the religion, culture, tradition, faith, and language of Janjati society. Protecting Janjati identity is protecting Indianness. Hence, this demand and amendment is the need of the hour.
